Name Someone Faster. We’ll Wait.

How fast do you think that you could slap, sauce, and cheese three 18" pizzas? Whatever your time, it's not as fast as Dalton.

How fast do you think that you could slap, sauce, and cheese three 18" pizzas? Whatever your time, it's not as fast as Dalton.

His 8 years in the pizza game and happy-go-lucky attitude make him a force to be reckoned with when it comes to makin' tasty pies. What is interesting to us is that his family has a history of pizza slinging, including his siblings who are also seasoned veterans for the slice.

So, is it just in the blood?

"I think that we had a single mom who did a great job raising kids who work hard at anything they do" He said.
Even though he is allergic to dry flour and has to wear a mask when he slaps pies, he still has the fastest 3 pie time in the company with a whopping 1:54. Dalton's secret is consistency and maintaining a rhythm (epic life lesson).

On slice breaks he goes for a Pepperoni with hot honey or a chicken Alfredo with Cholula. Dalton's last words during our time together were affirmations to his team...
"Shout outs definitely for Melissa, Brenden, and the rest of our management team at CF! We’ve got a crew that really just works well together and does a great job"

Dalton is a pizza connoisseur, an incredible team member, and a great friend. You can catch him most days at the Clearfield shop.

Until next time,

Breakfast All-Day. B.A.D. Choice? No way.

It’s an early morning and we’re not talking about like 9am early, lazily roll out of bed early. No. We’re talking like rise and shine, sun ain’t up yet, early. It’s quiet, but the comfortable kind. As you walk into the restaurant, you and the waiter share a friendly glance followed by a groggy head nod. It’s slow so you get to seat yourself and are met by a fresh cup of mediocre coffee, flavored to taste with your choice of creamer. It’s too early to think straight, but the one thing you know for sure is that you will be annihilating the first menu item that catches your eye.

Diners, home to some of the nation’s most beloved meals.

It just so happens that this particular restaurant has pizza on the menu. That doesn’t surprise you much though, you eat pizza for breakfast all the time. Yet, this spot is different because it’s not your typical run of the mill pizza.

You glance over the options and decide that you are going to order one slice to eat now and have one to throw in your lunch box for later. That coffee starts to kick in though and now you are torn between which special slices deserve your attention.

SO MANY CHOICES. It’s a good thing that this spot in particular does Breakfast All Day because you might be here awhile trying to decide. Here’s to taking your time!

Pizza You Later.

You know that feeling when you get to the end of a really good book? It’s like you don’t want the story to end, but at the same time you have a deep appreciation you got to experience the story.

You know that feeling when you get to the end of a really good book? It’s like you don’t want the story to end, but at the same time you have a deep appreciation you got to experience the story.

I am particularly reminded of this feeling when the seasons start to change. Time is fleeting, everyone has gotten a little bit older and you are there to witness it all.

These moments in particular make me grateful that I have been able to have hardships (aka. opportunities for growth) in life. Sometimes, the going gets tough and that doesn’t stop time passing. At the end of the day we have the choice about how we will look at the lot we’re given in life. As for Lucky Slice, we’re gonna keep moving forward, being creative, pushing ourselves to new heights and leaving the rest of the bull**** behind us. ‘Cause at the end of the day you know what matters? Friends, family, food, and giving yourself to something bigger.

These are some of those private moments that are hardest to put into words, they might bring a tear to your eye and they are the most unforgettable. Just like the ending of a good book.

So with the utmost gratitude, we will be removing our summer seasonal menu entitled “Vaqueros” from the menu as of October 1.

While we are sad to see these pies go, we are excited to show you the next chapter. At least with us, “pizza endings” tend to be more like “pizza see ya’ laters”.

Thanks for letting us make you pizza.

Pies leaving the Menu Oct. 1:

DESPERADO

THE BANDITO

STARRY NIGHT

PANCHO VERDE

ESQUITES

LONE RANGER

Catch you on the flippidy flip,

Push Boundaries, Forget Haters.

7 billion people on a crowded rock and we’ve got some guy over here telling us that we can’t put ramen on pizza. Look, we get it. It’s not been done, but that isn’t gonna stop us. How do you think the Wright Brothers felt? I bet you there were so many people around them that made fun of them for trying to fly, but that didn’t stop them. I would have loved to be there to see the faces of the Wright Brother’s bullies when they finally were able to defy the laws of gravity for those legendary 12 seconds.

Unfortunately, this is the case with many creative ventures. You pour your heart, soul, and countless hours in to making something great and there will always be those people hanging around that want to bring you down. Not sure if we have any advice about how to make it through the criticism other than just let those ideas simmer. You never know when something is going to be ready, but as long as you keep that fire going it seems like things tend to turn out alright. Yet, if you need a mantra to help you keep moving just remember…

“Push Boundaries, Forget the Haters.”

So, yeah. We put ramen on pizza and you may just like it too if you are brave enough to try it. At least it’s easier than building an airplane.

September 24 Monthly:

Chili Crunch Ramen:

Miso corn chowder, mozzarella, seasoned cabbage, ramen noodles, chashu pork, house garlic chili crunch, fresh green onion.

Available every day during the month of September by the slice and full pie!

Until next time,

A Small Slice of the Pie.

Imagine you are in a small steel box (pizza truck), with 3-4 other people, shoulder to shoulder. The weather said the high temps for the day would peak at about 101 degrees fahrenheit and the only self defense your crew has is a little fan. To top that off, your job for the next 4-6 hours is to man a 550 degree oven. Just to spice things up a little bit, you haven’t even opened your doors and there is a line waiting outside the truck of 50 people strong.

This is a day in the life of our event staff. To say that they are “built tough” is an understatement. They are a different breed who specialize in delivering awesome vibes, crispy pizza, and a work ethic stronger than the average Joe. So how does one pick a motto to represent a legendary crew that won’t just be clever word play? Many people that have worked in the food industry for a long time understand how important the bonds you make with others become. Making food is hard. You suffer with the people next to you and at the end of the rush who else do you go to for a shoulder to lean on? Your co-workers. Yet, the work itself is rewarding and it seems like periodically we catch ourselves looking to the past and reminiscing on good times. Thus, “Good Times at the Lucky Slice” was born and when you meet some of the people on our event team, this saying starts to make even more sense. So without further adieu, meet Nikki and Oliver. In her spare time, Nikki (her friends call her Kita) loves doing yoga, finding ways to better herself, and her relationships (including her dogs). Her current anthem is "I Love It" by Icona Pop and her favorite slice is the Spartiken with balsamic drizzle. Here are some words of wisdom from Nikki... “There are only two lessons: you weren’t seeing the whole thing, and you are the whole thing”

When Oliver (his friends call him Oli) isn't bumping "Not Like Us" by Kendrick Lamar, you might catch him going to concerts, snowboarding, or munching on a Danimal slice (when it's around of course). We asked Oliver what some words of wisdom he lives by and he gave us this killer Mac Miller quote... “People change and things go wrong, but just remember, life goes on.”

Until the Next Good Time,

The Ultimate Test of Friendship…

On a recent bike ride with a good friend, I made a wrong turn. Well, at least that’s what I thought. As I realized my folly, I turned to them and tried to apologize for my mistaken path. I was caught off guard by their quick and remarkably Taoist response… “there is no wrong way”. True that, Master Yoda.

On a real note, this is such an interesting perspective to have on life because as we have all/will experience… life is full of people that are quick to criticize and slow to listen. Especially when another decides to do something differently. Perhaps the most freeing thing one could ever do is to live life like no is watching. Initially, you might feel a little self conscious, but the more you participate in this beautiful life dance, the more that you will push away the haters and attract those that are meant to be around you.

Our NINE LIVES: ALLEYCAT RACE is all about figuring out your path, solving problems, and doing the best you can. Teams of two will complete location based challenges to earn clues that will lead them to the next location, which must be reached via bicycle (no e-bikes allowed). First team to complete all 9 challenges and cross the finish line wins! The NINE LIVES ALLEYCAT RACE will take place in Ogden, Utah. The specific start location will be announced via email 1 hour before start. Registration is $25 per team of two.

So this is more than just a test of how fast you can ride your bike, but also about how well you listen, take feedback, and can work as team!

Cheers.

Are We Pizza Criminals?

As cool as it sounds, we have to get this straight. The name "Desperado" is definitely americanized. If you were to do a light browse online, you would find that the word "desperado" is derived from the Spanish word "desesperado" which basically means hopeless. Unsurprisingly, the word was shortened to Desperado and used in the American West to describe people who boldly ignored rules, committed crimes, or other criminal acts.

You know its kinda funny that we used this for one of "Vaqueros" seasonal pies because we have been accused countless times of committing pizza crimes (there's even a subreddit for pizza crimes!!!). However, we do live in a world where you have to be vigilant about the validity of information that you see online and ultimately it comes down to what you think.

This begs the question... Is it really a pizza crime if the pizza tastes good? We don't think so, but you should be the judge!

Desperado:

A beef gravy, topped with mozzarella, braised beef, pickled red onion, jalapeno, and queso casero.

The Desperado is a part of our Summer Seasonal Menu entitled "Vaqueros" available for a limited time.

See you soon.
